Events such as picnics, outdoor BBQ’s and field trips to further include them in the community and help them familiarize and practice being part of a communal group.
San Francisco Crabbing
Crabbing is one of the most beloved activities at Apollo ADP, offering a fun, hands-on experience that connects participants to the rich maritime traditions of the Bay Area. The recreational Dungeness crabbing season in the San Francisco Bay Area runs from November to July, and during this time, our Apollo ADP family enthusiastically joins in the local holiday tradition of crabbing. It's a wonderful way for participants to get out on the water, enjoy the fresh air, and actively engage in the excitement of catching these prized crustaceans. But the crabbing fun doesn’t stop there—throughout the year, we also target rock crabs, ensuring that our participants always have the opportunity to experience the thrill of a good catch, no matter the season.
One of the best parts of this activity is the opportunity for participants to bring home their catch of the day. After a successful outing, they get to share the bounty with their family or care providers, creating an unforgettable experience as they enjoy a delicious, freshly prepared meal together. This tradition not only fosters a sense of accomplishment but also brings families closer, allowing them to enjoy the fruits of their shared adventure.
Wild Life Viewing
California is home to wide diversity of wildlife. Apollo ADP participants explores national parks that offer a unique experience for watching wildlife. It is an activity that our participants enjoy as they venture out on the trails that are wheelchair accessible and enjoy the surroundings.
Wildlife watching is a practice that can sharpen our senses and teach us about relationships between living things and the earth. It may cultivate an understanding of our own relationship to other living things, strengthening our bond to nature.
As participants watch animals in their natural habitats, they learn to see the small behaviors that help keep ecosystems balanced. These trips not only offer a fun way to explore nature but also raise awareness about our responsibility to protect the wide variety of life.
Discovering New Species Through Fishing
This activity offers a fun mix of fishing and learning about science. Participants / individuals join guided fishing trips with Apollo ADP staff, exploring different natural environments full of unique sea life. The trips are not just about fishing; they also provide a chance to help discover new species and make notes about the environment.
Guides from Apollo ADP share their knowledge about the local ecosystems, helping everyone understand the balance of nature. These trips let participants enjoy fishing while also contributing to importance of every species, making the adventure both fun and helpful for nature’s protection.
